In Giappone, uno studio su circa 1.700 anziani ha scoperto che peggiore era la qualit\u00e0 del sonno e maggiore il rischio di sviluppare stitichezza nei 12 mesi successivi. Mentre, secondo altre ricerche, tra le persone che gi\u00e0 soffrono di stitichezza chi ha anche un sonno disturbato presenta sintomi pi\u00f9 severi.<\/p><p>Quindi, sebbene il collegamento possa sembrare curioso, possiamo concludere che \u00e8 <strong>scientificamente provato<\/strong>: dormire poco o male contribuisce a causare stitichezza, e a peggiorarla in chi gi\u00e0 ne soffre.<\/p><p><strong>Ma perch\u00e9?<\/strong><\/p><p>Una prima risposta ha a che vedere con la <strong>compliance rettale<\/strong>. La compliance rettale misura la capacit\u00e0 del retto (l\u2019ultimissima parte dell\u2019intestino, in cui si raccolgono le feci prima di essere espulse) di allargarsi, senza provocare lo stimolo alla defecazione, quando all\u2019interno aumenta la pressione. In parole semplici, una maggior compliance rettale significa che <strong>il retto dovr\u00e0 riempirsi di pi\u00f9 prima di segnalare la necessit\u00e0 di andare in bagno<\/strong>. Avremo quindi evacuazioni meno frequenti e con feci pi\u00f9 voluminose e dure (perch\u00e9 sostando pi\u00f9 a lungo nel retto si disidrateranno).<\/p><p>Nessuna sorpresa che spesso chi soffre di stitichezza abbia una compliance rettale superiore alla norma. Pu\u00f2 sorprendere, invece, il dato che emerge da uno studio condotto a Taiwan su un gruppo di giovani volontari (sani): <strong>peggiore la qualit\u00e0 del sonno, maggiore la compliance rettale<\/strong>. Ad esempio sappiamo bene che non riposare a sufficienza aumenta l\u2019ansia e lo stress, e questi a loro volta tendono ad incrementare le <strong>tensioni muscolari<\/strong>: se la tensione si localizza <strong>a livello del pavimento pelvico e degli sfinteri anali<\/strong>, la defecazione diventer\u00e0 difficoltosa e potr\u00e0 comparire stipsi.<\/p><p>Oltre a questi effetti a livello rettale e anale, quindi sulle ultimissime fasi dell\u2019evacuazione, un sonno disturbato pu\u00f2 agire anche pi\u00f9 a monte, alterando la <strong>motilit\u00e0 del colon<\/strong>. Normalmente mentre dormiamo la peristalsi intestinale si arresta, per poi riprendere con il risveglio; durante il giorno, il massimo di attivit\u00e0 si verifica quando mangiamo qualcosa (\u201criflesso gastro-colico\u201d). Ma, se non dormiamo come si deve, <strong>l\u2019<a href=\"https:\/\/www.erboristeriasalute.com\/news\/ritmi-circadiani\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">orologio<\/a> intestinale va in confusione<\/strong>. Durante la notte il colon sar\u00e0 pi\u00f9 attivo del normale, e durante il giorno meno, con la conseguenza che l\u2019assunzione di cibo potrebbe non provocare una risposta abbastanza forte da indurre la defecazione.<\/p><h2>La nostra strategia per affrontare stitichezza e sonno disturbato<\/h2><p>Un sonno regolare \u00e8 importante per mantenere un intestino regolare.<br \/>Se soffri di stitichezza e di sonno disturbato, occorre <strong>intervenire contemporaneamente su entrambi i disturbi<\/strong>.
